One central action
The main working is whatever the ritual is actually for: a spell, a seasonal observance, a dedication, a piece of divination, a period of sitting with a question. The most common beginner error is to attempt five workings at once and finish none of them.
Say what it is
Naming the purpose out loud, in one plain sentence, before you start, does more for a ritual than any amount of equipment. It also means you can tell afterwards whether you did what you set out to do.
Cakes and ale
Many Wiccan rituals include a shared food and drink element, usually called cakes and ale or cakes and wine. In coven practice it carries symbolic and devotional weight; in all practice it grounds people and marks the shift back towards ordinary time. It does not require literal cake or literal alcohol. Tea, water, bread, a biscuit, an apple, or whatever you have is entirely usual, and non-alcoholic is standard practice in plenty of groups.
Records
Write down what you actually did while it is fresh, including anything that went sideways. That record is worth more in six months than a tidier account would be.
